Our Spring Break

A week spent at Cannon Beach. It was raining and windy, cold, and gray. We still got out to do some fun things. Despite the icky weather, and over abundance of flies at the beach house (don't even ask about the flies, I am going to try and forget).

Here are some of the good highlights of our trip:

Making Smores is always a fun way to spend the evening, and Yummy!A walk down to Haystack Rock and the tide pools to search for starfish, shells,

and other fun little creatures.

Peyton really enjoyed sitting in the little rocking chair next to the window. It is just her size. She would wave to the people walking by on the beach and say

"woof-woof" for every dog she saw.

We went into Seaside and went swimming at the public pool and then went into town to something called the "Can Castle Contest". Basically sculptures built out of food... indoors of course.We also enjoyed the Merry-Go-Round. Maddie's favorite horse...the Sea Horse.Peyton really enjoys the ride too. She cried when it was over and wanted to go again.A yummy chocolate ice cream cone!

All in all the beach is a great place to spend Spring Break...at least it wasn't snowing like last year. :)

Just A Reminder, Call Her Mom!

Maddie was busy working in a workbook at the kitchen table while I was playing with Peyton. Peyton discovered a new little game where she would call me "Da-Da" and then start laughing. I would say "Ma-Ma" and then tickle her. She knew the game she was playing and would some times say "Ma-Ma" and then I would clap and give her a big kiss. This went on and on with giggles galore. Then Maddie walked over to Peyton and handed her a little green post it note. On it was the word, MoM. She told Peyton, "Here Peyton. This is a note to remind you what to call Mommy...Mom." :) I'm sure Peyton appreciates the little reminder note! :)

The Portland Children's Musuem

We have a GREAT children's museum here in Portland. One of the best parts (besides the museum itself) is that the local library has a pass to check out and we can get in free! Other wise it is $7 a person...including adults and even Peyton. So, the pass is a big money saver for a day full of fun! I had conferences last week so Bryan took Maddie, Peyton and one of Maddie's little friends (Mia) to the Museum. Maddie has always enjoyed it, but now Peyton is getting to an age where she enjoys it too. She interacts with the others and play right along. Here are some pictures of their fun day! The Dig Pit has rubber pieces (donated by NIKE) to dig in, dump, bury, and pour!

Cheerleaders?

Maddie was playing with her cheerleader pom poms and wanted me to "cheer" with her. She made up a little routine and I was to copy all of the moves she did. Here was her final pose at the end of the cheer...

Bet you wouldn't see that at a football game! :)

Crazy Girls!

Maddie came home from preschool and wanted to make a maraca. So, I left everything out for my Mom to help her make one while I was at work. She decorated it with stickers and put popcorn seeds inside. Well, of course Peyton then needed one too (monkey see monkey do is how it has been lately). So, we made her one and she and Maddie could "rock out" and dance with their maracas (and drive their Mommy crazy!)

Fork Power!

Peyton has been doing really well eating with a fork. Just another little way to show how she is growing up! What a big girl! One morning she even ate all of her cheerios with her fork...now that took skills!
