A Little Garden Of Their Own

This year we decided to make the girls a little raised bed for a garden. Bry bought the wood and the girls helped to build the 4x4 box. Then we filled it with dirt and planted a little garden. Their garden has broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, and marigolds. We have also planted strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, green beans, and peas in a different areas of the yard. It is fun to see the girls so interested in plants. They both love to be outside and help in the yard. We look forward to seeing the garden grow. It was planted with love!

Another Weekend at the Coast

We went to the beach this weekend since I did not have school on Friday (budget cuts, might as well make the best of it). We had a much better weekend then the Spring Break week (no flies, YIPPEE!!). The weather was actually really nice for a couple of days. We walked on the beach to Mo's, a great restaurant, and walked into town. It was fun to play on the beach, walk around the tide pools, and play at the park in town. We went into Seaside (8 miles from Cannon) and did the usual ride on the merry-go-round, and we also went to the aquarium. Seaside has a very small aquarium that contains all animals from the Pacific Ocean. They also have seals that you can feed. This was fun. The seals "bark" at you and slap the water and their sides with their fins. They will eventually splash you if you do not throw them a fish quick enough. Peyton was not at all fond of the loud noises or water spray of the seals. Bry had to take her out of the seal area. The aquarium part was great for the girls and they both enjoyed the various fish and a very active octopus that would suction himself from wall to wall and to the glass. It was a good trip and I am always looking forward to the next... most likely the Cannon Beach Sandcastle Contest in June!

Holding a little hermit crab. Maddie was really into looking for hermit crabs this time. She wanted to hold all of them too. She has really grown in this area. She used to just like to look while I held the creatures, now she is all about doing it herself.

Tulip Festival 2009

We had an amazing day at the Tulip Festival in Woodburn. We have gone to the festival every year since we had engagement pictures taken there, 10 years ago. We really enjoy the beauty of the blooming flowers and the mountain in the background. I think we caught a few good pictures. Peyton is really into smelling all of the flowers. I can remember back when Maddie was in this stage. She was about the same age as Peyton, and we had to stop and smell every flower. I guess it is better then her picking them. What a great sunny day!

Happy Easter!

We had all of the family over on Saturday for an Easter Celebration. It was so much fun and the weather even cooperated for a great Easter Egg Hunt! This was Peyton's first Easter where she knew what was going on and was able to participate in all of the fun. She really got into the egg hunts and it was so fun to see her bend over time and time again to pick up an egg and in the process dump all of the eggs out of her basket. She would then pick up the eggs that fell out of her basket, continue to the next egg, and then start the process over again. Maddie was an egg hunting pro this year and held her own against the big kids. She was so fast running from egg to egg that many of my pictures ended up a blur. She has a huge bowl of goodies to show for her speed.

On Sunday, Bryan had to work so my sister Caitie, the "girls" and I went to church in the morning. It was a great service and we had a good day. Here are the girls in their matching Easter outfits. My little sweeties!

Yummy Popsicles!

The sun has been shining for the last 3 days and looks like it might be around for a day and 1/2 more. Or so I hope! We actually had to get out some of the summer clothes today because it was a whopping 76 degrees! I will take any sun I can get! The kids have been playing outside and enjoying Popsicles that come with the nice weather. Peyton really has found she likes Popsicles and will not settle for sharing with Maddie or having any help when it comes to eating it. She wants her own and wants to do it herself. She actually does pretty well for a 16 month old! She had a messy face and hands but not too much on her clothes. She finished it all off and would have had another if she had any say in it. :)

Outlet Mall Fun

This weekend was the 10 year anniversary of the Woodburn outlet mall. We decided to head out for the festivities. They had a BBQ, Balloons, face painting, tulips for sale, the stores had sales, and lots of other little booths set up throughout the outdoor mall. We enjoyed the sunshine and the day. Peyton was very happy with her purple balloon.
Is Peyton saying Aunt Caitie is #1?Madison had her face air brush painted. It was free as part of the celebration. She had flowers going down one side and a butterfly on the other. Pink was her color of choice. I think it looked pretty neat! She was also sprinkled with glitter for that extra sparkle. :)Pretty Girl!

UP, UP, and AWAY!

Apple!

Bryan and Peyton were playing the game where he would say "Peyton" and she would say "Da-Da". Well, when I got the camera and started recording she changed her word to "apple". When she says "apple" she means she wants something to eat. You can see she is starting to get frustrated with Bryan because he is not getting her something to eat. :)

Birthday Surprise

For my birthday Bryan surprised me with a night out. We went to the Melting Pot for Dinner and then to see the Broadway show, Wicked! I loved it! I was so excited and it was a GREAT birthday surprise! Thank you Bry!Yummy Dessert! Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate Fondue.Here is what we dipped in the chocolate...Mmmmm! I was one happy girl!
