Starting to Stand

Peyton is now pulling herself up to stand. I went into her room the other day and she was standing in her crib. She even uses her toy basket to push herself to standing.

Yes... we go to the zoo quite often. This time we had friends visiting from out of town so of course there is not a better place to spend the day! The zoo was very busy so we parked over on the Rose Garden side of Washington Park, had a picnic lunch, and then rode the train into the zoo. This was so fun and the kids loved it. We were hoping to see the new baby elephant that was born this past week... but, he was not out for public viewing quite yet. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed sharing it with our friends!

A True Army Crawl

Peyton has gone from an inch worm crawl to a true army crawl. She is getting so fast, especially to get to keys, the cat, a cell phone, or a remote! She's a little mover!

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, It's Back To Work I Go

So Sad!! I have returned to the life of schedules, organizing, cleaning my very dusty room, and meetings galore! I have to leave the lazy, no schedule, play it by ear days behind. It is time to get back into the swing of things at work. School starts for the kids on September 2nd, but I went back to work this week.
We are given 1 1/2 days this entire week to get the classroom in order and get lesson plans ready before all of those little smiling faces show up at my classroom door. Needless to say that time is never enough, so I spent the prior Friday and Saturday in my classroom. The rest of my week has been filled with meetings, computer in services, and more meetings! O-boy! It is hard for teachers to sit.
I wish the actual teaching was starting now. I can't wait to meet a new batch of little ones eager to learn and get started! It's always so much fun! Just got to get through this week! :)

Movin' Out So Soon?

I was feeding Peyton while Maddie was jumping and dancing around. Here is how our conversation went:

Maddie: When Peyton is 4 I will teach her how to dance.

Me: That would be good... you will be 8 when Peyton is 4. (I pretend to be sad and cry)

Maddie: (coming over and hugging me) don't worry Mommy, I will still live here when I am 8 with you and Daddy. Don't cry.

I am so glad she did not have plans to move out when she was 8...that might be just a tad bit young. :)

Our Trip to AZ

Maddie and I took a week to visit friends in AZ. It was a hot one! Temps were 106 to 107 every day. So, we spent A LOT of time in the pool and doing inside activities. We had so much fun just visiting and hanging out. I love how the kids are getting older and interacting in actual play. They ran around the house being silly and enjoyed having a live in playmate for a week. Jana and I were able to sneak away one evening and see Mama Mia. We loved it and all of the "corniness" it had to offer! We have always enjoyed seeing chick flicks together, especially musicals we can sing along to! So much fun. I wish we could see them more often!

We went to the Science center in AZ and saw the Grossology exhibit. We learned about all of our gross bodily functions, innards and sounds we make. It was pretty gross!
